It is important to remember that we can change the patterns of relating that were handed down to us at anytime. It is never to late, there is always hope. The emotional needs that we all have are on-going and life-long. This means that we can start at any time to heal and repair our relationships with our kids; it doesn't matter if we are sixty-five and our child is forty-five.The Parenting Process offers a way to interrupt and alter the emotional legacies that restrict and interfere with children's unique development. This is the process of becoming a conscious parent and facilitates the movement between family closeness and independence, even when there has been little or no experience of healthy relating in our own childhood. Parents can learn to raise children who have a better foundation of emotional health than the parent may have had. When we start to do this for our children, we get it for ourselves --emotionally, rather than intellectually.

The Parenting Process is a holistic and integrative system that has at its core the intention of raising children whose hearts and spirits are not broken. Raising emotionally healthy children touches the concerns of all of us because a foundation of emotional health underlies our ability to maintain a spiritual connection with ourselves, each other and our planet.
